2007 Review

After months of rain, a little fine Welsh drizzle wasn’t going to deter the 400 concert goers who arrived at Music on the Meadow. Young members of the YFC were at hand to help carry chairs and picnic baskets. The entertainment began with Builth Wells Male Voice Choir who provided a repertoire of well known favourites.

The Three Tenors, Crwys Evans, Robyn-Lyn Evans and John Davies made a welcome return to the meadow and the Music on the Meadow committee were delighted to receive The Three Baritones, Gwynedd Parry, Aled Edwards and Emyr Jones. The trios provided a musical feast ranging from opera and classical to pop and traditional folk. Their joint rendition was one of many highlights of the evening.

Anwen, Owen and Mairwen, resident performers of Music On The Meadow entertained the crowd with a variety of songs. Their rock and roll finale had everyone dancing in the aisles.

The natural setting of Music on the Meadow is always a highlight, with a candle and torchlight providing a fantastic mood.

The evenings compere, Gareth Vaughan ensured the continuous flow of the concert, while entertaining the audience with his usual wit and laconic style. Unfortunately he could not escape his position as FUW President as it fell upon him to announce the outbreak of foot and mouth in Surrey.

Together with the auction – under the hammer of the ever popular Chris Davies, and match funding from Barclays Bank and Hanson Quarry a sum of £5400 was donated to the chosen charities Wales Air Ambulance, Asthma UK Cymru, and Epilepsy Wales. A £300 donation was also made to a Pachyonychia Congenita appeal as a local boy is affected by the illness.

The Music on the Meadow Committee would like to thank all Sponsors and helpers for their continued support.
