Builth Wells Male Voice Choir
There has been a choir in Builth Wells for more than one hundred years and has long been renowned for the quality of its’ choral singing. In 1888 the great Llew Buallt took a choir of 150 voices to Llandudno and won the National Eisteddfod.

The present choir started life in 1968 as The Builth Wells Cricket and Rugby Club Male Voice Choir but the title was shortened to its’ present one around 1980.
Now a registered charity, the Choir draws its’ members from the townspeople, a sizeable number of whom are local farmers, as well as others in a widely scattered area for which Builth Wells is a focal point. The Choir gives concerts for charitable causes in many towns throughout , and , as well as having toured in
The aim of the Choir is to produce a varied repertoire for lasting enjoyment, including traditional Welsh evergreen favorites, classical religious pieces, uplifting spirituals, music from the Swing Era and stirring Welsh Hymns, as well as music from and in their native tongues.
Their Musical Director since 1984, Mrs. Luned Jones who received her musical education in Llanelli and Cardiff, was previously their accompanist from1971, having sung solos at the Choir’s concerts, also duets with Dawn Jones (Soprano) a regular and popular guest solo artist at many concerts, both at home and abroad
The Choir’s accompanist since 1984, Mrs. Ann Bufton gained the ALMC Performance Diploma in Piano in 1982. Ann also played clarinet in the Leicestershire Youth Orchestra, played Bassoon in the Mid Wales Youth Orchestra and Clarinet in the Brecon Town Band.
